Old Man Cactus
Cephalocereus senilis · Cactaceae
How it looks
Old Man Cactus is a very distinctive cactus whose cylindrical succulent stem is densely covered in long white woolly hairs. Small spines are hidden within the wool, and yellow flowers appear at the top. It grows 12 in–10 ft (30 cm–3 m) tall.
Old Man Cactus (Old Man Cactus) has no known toxicity to cats. It's a safe cactus known for its white, woolly hair.
Guide for parents
Sharp spines hide beneath the fuzzy, wool-like coat — even people can get hurt handling it. The safest spot is a shelf out of your cat's reach. If a spine gets stuck, pull it out with tweezers. It's a desert cactus that loves strong direct sun, and the care point is watering in small amounts only after the soil has dried out completely.
